Letter, 1877.

The Greenback Club or National Independent Party was formed due to monetary concerns in the post Civil War period, and agrarian discontent following the panic of 1873. Support for the first greenback policy led to the formation of this party. Benjamin Blair was a businessman in Newville, DeKalb County, Indiana. He was co-founder of the Newville Hotel Company in 1872, and county commissioner from 1876 to 1880.
